Video: A CGI Look At The Late Night Situation

Taiwan Apple Daily, a newspaper, first gained noteriety here in the USA for their animation of the Tiger Woods Situation. Well they're at it again, with hilarious bit on the Late Night Mess. Check it out below!

Here Is That Same Skit, a bit longer, In English!

The Late Night Wars

This might be my first post that has nothing to do with sports, but what I am about to blog about is just as compelling as any nailbiter of a game I have ever watched.

Unless you have been living under a rock in the past two weeks, you know about the late night mess that has gone on at NBC. Jay Leno, six years ago, gave up "The Tonight Show" in 2009 to Conan O'Brien, who was then host of "Late Night." 2009 comes and, as expected, Jay Leno walks away from the Tonight Show. However, NBC, not wanting to lose Leno to another network, offered him a Primetime Slot at 10 PM. As expected, Jay Leno moved from "The Tonight Show" onto "The Jay Leno Show" which was regularly in "A Safe Third Place" seemingly every night, competing against great shows like "CSI."

Fast Forward to about two weeks ago, when NBC announced that, after the Winter Olympics, they wanted to move "The Jay Leno Show" to 11:30 PM and move "The Tonight Show" to 12 AM. Conan O'Brien didn't like that idea, was exploring his options, and it now appears as though Jay Leno will get "The Tonight Show" back and Conan O'Brien will likely take his staff with him to Fox.

David Letterman gives a bit of a revisionist history on the NBC "Debacle."

Jay Leno talks about the situation regarding his show and Conan.

It's obvious to me why David Letterman wants Conan O'Brien to stay at The Tonight Show. Letterman has been leading in the Late Night ratings since Conan took over "The Tonight Show." If Jay gets the show back, Dave is worried that he won't be number one anymore.

I don't understand why Jay Leno has been the bad guy throughout all of this. If Jay Leno wants to continue to make a living telling jokes, that's his right, just like it's Brett Favre's right to continue to play Quarterback in the NFL if he so desires. How many people have you heard say "The Vikings need to go to Tavaris Jackson. He's the young guy. He's the future."? I haven't heard any Vikings fans that I know say that.

If you want to blame anybody for this debacle, blame the Incompetent morons at NBC for thinking they could predict something six years in the future like this. Don't blame Jay Leno. This was not his doing.

If you're "With Coco" go watch him on Fox, but don't be hating on Jay Leno.

Mark McGwire Tells AP He Used Steroids

Former major league slugger Mark McGwire tells The Associated Press that he used steroids for about a decade during his playing career, including 1998 when he set a single-season home run record.

Baseball Tonight's Tim Kurkjian reacts to the news of McGwire.

Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa talks about McGwire coming forward.

Here is Mark McGwire's full statement to the Associated Press below:

“Now that I have become the hitting coach for the St. Louis Cardinals, I have the chance to do something that I wish I was able to do five years ago.

I never knew when, but I always knew this day would come. It’s time for me to talk about the past and to confirm what people have suspected. I used steroids during my playing career and I apologize. I remember trying steroids very briefly in the 1989/1990 off season and then after I was injured in 1993, I used steroids again. I used them on occasion throughout the ’90s, including during the 1998 season.

I wish I had never touched steroids. It was foolish and it was a mistake. I truly apologize. Looking back, I wish I had never played during the steroid era.

During the mid-’90s, I went on the DL seven times and missed 228 games over five years. I experienced a lot of injuries, including a ribcage strain, a torn left heel muscle, a stress fracture of the left heel, and a torn right heel muscle. It was definitely a miserable bunch of years and I told myself that steroids could help me recover faster. I thought they would help me heal and prevent injuries, too.

I’m sure people will wonder if I could have hit all those home runs had I never taken steroids. I had good years when I didn’t take any and I had bad years when I didn’t take any. I had good years when I took steroids and I had bad years when I took steroids. But no matter what, I shouldn’t have done it and for that I’m truly sorry.

Baseball is really different now - it’s been cleaned up. The commissioner and the players’ association implemented testing and they cracked down, and I’m glad they did.

I’m grateful to the Cardinals for bringing me back to baseball. I want to say thank you to Cardinals owner Mr. DeWitt, to my GM, John Mozeliak, and to my manager, Tony La Russa. I can’t wait to put the uniform on again and to be back on the field in front of the great fans in Saint Louis. I’ve always appreciated their support and I intend to earn it again, this time as hitting coach. I’m going to pour myself into this job and do everything I can to help the Cardinals hitters become the best players for years to come.

After all this time, I want to come clean. I was not in a position to do that five years ago in my congressional testimony, but now I feel an obligation to discuss this and to answer questions about it. I’ll do that, and then I just want to help my team.”

Obviously, the news today that McGwire has come forward is five years too late for me, but at least McGwire came forward and admitted what we had all suspected for so long.

This may not help his hall of fame chances, but it will help this wonderful game take the next step past the Steroid Era.

Congratulations, Andre Dawson!

Andre Dawson was the only player to get more than the 75 percent mark to gain admittance into the Baseball Hall Of Fame this year.

The obvious surprise at this year's hall of fame vote is that Roberto Alomar, one of the greatest second baseman of all time, didn't get the 75 percent needed to get in, finishing with 74 percent of the vote. Pitcher Bert Blyleven fell five votes shy of induction. He has two years remaining of eligibilty.

I think in 2011, Alomar and Blyleven will be inducted, no doubt about it.

Andre Dawson won the National League Rookie of the year award in 1976 with the now defunct Montreal Expos.

After ten seasons playing on the rock hard turf of Montreal's Olympic Stadium, Dawson left Montreal and offered the Cubs a blank contract. Cubs General Manager Dallas Green offered Dawson $500,000 dollars. Dawson then went on to have one of the greatest individual seasons in baseball history, as Dawson hit .287 with a league leading 49 homeruns and 137 RBIs to win the National League MVP Award for a last place Cubs team.

Dawson played six seasons with the Cubs before moving on to the Boston Red Sox before finishing his career in 1996 with the Florida Marlins.

Andre Dawson finished his career with  a .279 batting average, 438 homeruns,1,591 RBIs, and 314 Stolen Bases. Dawson also had four Silver Slugger Awards, Eight Gold Gloves, and was on eight All Star teams.

I think the most telling stat in favor of Andre Dawson is that he is one of only three players in the history of the game to have 400 homeruns, 300 stolen bases, and 1500 RBIs, joining Willie Mays and Barry Bonds.

Congratulations to "The Hawk" Andre Dawson on making it to the most exclusive club in Baseball. Dawson shows that good things happen to those who wait for the call to the hall.

CORRECTION: Corrected to Show Andre's batting average of .279, not his OBP of .323, which was originally posted as his batting average. Thanks to blog reader JF for recognizing my mistake. No More Late Night Blogging for me!

Gilbert Arenas Meets With Authorities About Guns in Locker

Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas says he took unloaded guns from his locker in a 'misguided effort to play a joke' on a teammate. Arenas released a written statement Monday after meeting with law enforcement officials.

The team formerly known as the Bullets has a star player who is in trouble over firearms?

Seems kind of ironic, doesn't it?
