The NL Cy Young Award Winner Has Been Dealt
Hours after Jarrod Washburn was traded to the Tigers, the White Sox pulled off a deal for a starter.
Jake Peavy has been traded from the Padres to the White Sox.
Peavy signed off on the deal this time around.
Clayton Richard, Adam Russell, Aaron Poreda, and Dexter Carter are heading to San Diego.
Jake is currently on the DL. If the deal is confirmed, the question for the White Sox becomes: When will Jake be able to pitch?
The Positive Names Are Trickling out Slowly
The New York Times reports David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez were among the more than 100 major league players who tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in 2003.
David Ortiz said he was "suprised" by the results.
Red Sox fans talk about the news about David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez testing positive in 2003.
I think Ozzie Guillen sums up my feelings about the list itself.
"Can somebody in baseball, please, we're all begging people, get that stupid list out and move on?"
Baseball needs to release the names. Quit saying the list is under a Court seal. If it was, none of the names would have been leaked out! Just do the right thing and release all the names so baseball can move on from this black eye of an era.

The Pirates Are Officially Rebuilding again
The Penguins and Steelers may be winners, but the Pirates are still doing what they do best, trade away all their good players.
Shortstop Jack Wilson and Pitcher Ian Snell have been traded to the Mariners for shortstop Ronny Cedeno, first baseman Jeff Clement, and right-handed pitching prospects Aaron Pribanic, Brett Lorin and Nathan Adcock.
Ronny Cedeno makes a return appearance to the NL Central.
The Pirates started trading players once they were only a few games out. They had no intention of being competitive this season.

Phillies Gearing Up For Another World Series Run
The Clevland Indians, for the Second Year in a row, have traded their ace.
The Indians traded Cliff Lee and outfielder Ben Francisco to the Philladelphia Phillies in exchange for pitcher Jason Knapp, pitcher Carlos Corrasco, shortstop Jason Donald, and catcher Lou Marson.
For two years straight, the Indians trade their ace. The Phillies didn't even get have to give up their premier pitching prospects like Kyle Drabek, who was being asked by the Blue Jays to get Roy Halladay.
The Phillies now have a rotation with Four Left Handers!
This is a steal for the Phillies as they are gearing up for another World Series run.

Report: Commsisioner Bud Selig Reviewing Rose's Status
MLB commissioner Bud Selig appears to be "seriously considering" reinstatement for Pete Rose nearly 20 years after the hit king was banned from baseball for gambling on the sport, according to a report in the New York Daily News.
If Rose were to become eligible, it stands to reason he would have to be voted into the Hall of Fame by the 65 living members who make up the Veterans Committee.
Inclusion on the writers' ballot expires after 15 years, though Rose has never appeared on their ballot except by write-in.
ESPN's Buster Olney talks about the report.
MLB Hall of Famer Hank Aaron gives his thoughts on Pete Rose.
I would expect Pete Rose to be reinstated, but only as Bud Selig'a last act before he leaves office in 2012.
I think in the steroid era, Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame. All he did was bet on baseball. Some players has seriously hurt the game with their use of performance enhancing drugs.
That is my poll question: Should Pete Rose be reinstated by Major League Baseball? Vote yes or no.
No Place like First Place
Cubs Shortstop Ryan Theriot talks about the Cubs recent surge into first place.
Aramis Ramirez has retuned, and Milton Bradley has finally begun to hit the ball better. Alfonso Soriano has made the adjustment from leadoff man to Sixth man in the order, and the Cubs pitchers haven't missed a beat despite the fact that a moderate injury bug has forced Lou Piniella to make changes to his rotation.
The Cubs begin a four game series against The Astros tonight which will tell us a lot about the Cubs, who are finally starting to play good baseball.

Mark Buehrle: PERFECTION!
On April 18, 2007, Mark Buehrle threw a no-hitter against the Texas Rangers, walking only one batter.
On July 23, 2009, Mark Buehrle was perfect, throwing the Major League first perfect game since Randy Johnson threw a perfect game against the Braves on May 18, 2004 at the age of 40.
Mark got an unbelievable catch by Dewayne Wise in the ninth inning. I was watching the performance on MLB.Com. starting with the eighth inning.
Then, with one out in the ninth ining, Dewayne Wise made the greatest catch I ever saw live on MLB.Com. Check it out below! You Have To See It!
Then Buerhle is able to finish it off and Pitch the majors first Perfect Game in Five Years!
Unbelievable! What an amzing pitching performance by Mark Buehrle!

Red Sox Pull off another good Trade
Last Summer, the Red Sox finally finally got tired of Manny being Manny and shipped him off to the Dodgers while they traded for his replacement,Jason Bay.
This Summer, the Pirates dealt Nate McLouth to the Braves Nyjer Morgan to the Nationals, and have now dealt Adam LaRoche to the Red Sox.
For the Red Sox, the move is obvious insurance in case one of their players gets hurt. The Red Sox six starters in their rotation (five now that Daisuke Mastuzaka is on the DL) and now they get a first baseman to probably backup Kevin Youklis and it may move Eric Hisnke to full time outfield.

Phillies Sign Pedro
Pedro Martinez has signed a one year deal with the Phillies.
Pedro was a big signing for the Phillies, who may also be in the hunt to trade for Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay.
Pedro Martinez can thank the World Baseball Classic as to why he has a job right now.
It would be weird to see Pedro pitching against the Mets. Can't wait to see that happen though!

American League Wins 2009 MLB All Star Game
Chris Singleton talks about the American League winning again!
Once again the National League comes up short.
The NL came out with some jitters in the first inning, which, ultimately, cost them the game. Tim Lincecum hit a batter and failed to cover first. David Wright made a bad throw to first and Albert Pujols booted a grounder, allowing the AL to get two unearned runs. Take away the first inning and they probably win the game. It once again was a game that could have gone either way.
Congrats to the Al for winning this game AGAIN!

Thirtieth Anniversary of Disco Demoltion Night
Two days ago marked the 30th anniversary of Disco Demolition Night. The promotion was held by the Chicago White Sox on July 12, 1979 at Comiskey Park. Disco records were exchanged for cheaper admission to a double header with the Detroit Tigers. Between games the disco records were blown up resulting in fans storming the field, lighting fires, and rioting.
Here are some local news reports from the Disco Demolition Night that night. Keep your eyes open for a Greg Gumbel sighting!
I don't know if that was worse than "Ten Cent Beer Night" though.

MLB.TV Is Amazing!
I got one week free of MLB.TV due to voting in the MLB Final Vote. This is the second year in a row I have taken advantage of the Free Week! I watched the Reds-Mets game on SNY-HD.The Reds beat The Mets 3-0. Watching that game, I can really see why the Mets are struggling. Their pitching is awful, their defense is bad, and they're not scoring runs, and Beltran, Delgado, And Jose Reyes are all hurt. When you download the MLB NextDef Act, the Standard Quality feed instantly is upgraded to HD-Quality! For an example, here is a screenshot from last nights Yankees-Angels Game I watched on Yes-HD.
That game wasn't the story though. Johnathan Sanchez of the Giants started in place of Randy Johnson, and threw the first no hitter of 2009! I didn't watch that game last night, but I watched the Condensed Game this morning, showing all of the important plays from that game, and Sanchez threw well in this game. An error by the Third Baseman kept Sanchez from throwing a perfect game!
Sanchez got some help with one out in the ninth. That ball looked like it was heading out, but Aaron Rowand made an incredible catch at the wall to save the game for Sanchez!
Then Sanchez was able to finish it off and complete the Giants first No Hitter in over 30 years! Unbelievable!

Your 2009 MLB Final Vote Winners Are..
Shane Victorino of the Philladelphia Phillies and Brandon Inge of the Detroit Tigers are the winners for the 2009 MLB Final Vote. Both will represent their ballclub this Tuesday night in St Louis.
I can't help but feel that Ian Kinsler of the Texas Rangers got robbed. A guy with twenty homeruns and 54 RBIs at the all Star Break. Let's not forget that Kinsler went 6 for 6 and hit for the cycle this season! For him to get passed on not once, but twice is crazy!

Roy Halladay On The Move?
The Toronto Blue Jays are falling out of contention.
They may try to dump salary in the form of moving Roy Halladay.
Where would Halladay go in the event of a trade? If the Blue Jays were to trade Halladay to the Yankees, can you imagine C.C Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Roy Halladay? Wow!
Ditto if he is dealt to the Red Sox. Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, John Smoltz, and Halladay? Expect the fact that the Red Sox have too many starters right now to give them plenty of leverage.
The Phillies are planning on scouting Pedro Martinez and would probably try to be involved in a deal for Halladay.
Roy Halladay may be dealt. It will be interesting to find out where he will go.
