Cubs Win, But At A Big Price
The Cubs ended up winning 5-2, but they lost star pitcher Carlos Zambrano, who was ejected while arguing a call at home plate. I think if Zambrano does not stick his elbow out, he would have been all right, but he stuck out his elbow, and he's tossed. He then throws a baseball into the stands, (Safety Issue) so Zambrano may have just added to any fine he will recieve.
How long will Zambrano be out? I will say three starts. I'm not going to speculate on the fine.
The Cubs called up the hottest bat in the Pacific Coast League, Jake Fox. He will primarily be used as a bat off the bench. Fox was leading all Minor Leaguers with a .423 batting average, 17 homers and 50 RBIs in 40 games.
The Cubs move on to play the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are reeling without Manny Ramirez.

Jake Peavy Declines Trade To Chicago
Jake Peavy has refused to wave his no trade clause to head to the Windy City.
Jake is staying in San Diego right now for family's sake.
Jake's offer, surprisingly, didn't come from the Cubs, who had an interest in him in January, but from their AL Rivals, the White Sox.
This trade offer was repoertedly a 4-for-1 deal, which reportedly included The White Sox top pitching prospects in Aaron Poreda and Clayton Richard.
No doubt, the Peavy rumors will continue (especially in July), but It does not appear as though Peavy will head anywhere this season, at least for now.

David Ortiz Sits on the Bench for the Weekend
Big Papi has been a big letdown for the Boston Red Sox this season.
Ortiz is batting just .208 for the season without a home run in 144 at-bats.
Terry Francona has decided to sit Ortiz for the weekend series against The Mariners.
Big Papi has not had a glove ( he has always been a liability at first base), and now he has no bat. What does that leave Ortiz with? Mothing! He had better find his stroke soon, or Red Sox Nation will be calling for Red Sox GM Theo Epstein to let him walk after this season.

Alex Rodriguez Unloads On First Pitch
The visual evidence speaks for itself below.
A-Rod must have made up his mind before he stepped in to swing at the first pitch.
That decision really paid off.
A-Rod homered on the first pitch he saw of his 2009 MLB Season. It was a three run homer to left field, that gave the Bronx Bombers a 3-0 lead. After a Johnny Damon RBI, the score became 4-0 Yankees. We finally saw the C.C. Sabathia the Yankees paid all of that money for, as he had eight strikeouts in a complete game shutout.
The AL East had better look out! The Yankees Are Coming!

"Mannywood" Closed Down For 50 Games
Mannywood will not return for a while.
Manny Ramirez has become the latest person to be suspended for Performance Enhancing Drugs.
Manny became suspended for 50 games following use of a Performance enhancing drug.
Manny has released a ststement. Here it is below.
"Recently I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medication, not a steroid, which he thought was OK to give me. Unfortunately, the medication was banned under our drug policy. Under the policy that mistake is now my responsibility. I have been advised not to say anything more for now. I do want to say one other thing; I've taken and passed about 15 drug tests over the past five seasons.
"I want to apologize to Mr. McCourt, Mrs. McCourt, Mr. Torre, my teammates, the Dodger organization, and to the Dodger fans. LA is a special place to me and I know everybody is disappointed. So am I. I'm sorry about this whole situation."
The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently 13-0 at home this season, a new Major League Baseball record. Manny Ramirez seemed to homer in just about every one of these games, so we will now see how the Dodgers will respond to this setback.
On to Manny himself: He claims the doctor said it would be okay to give him. He should have checked with Major League Baseball to determine if the drug was okay. Of course, that is if Manny's excuse is legit, but I don't think it is.
The Dodgers are going to miss Manny Being Manny, at least for a while.
