Could Tim Tebow Be Heading To The Motor City?
The Florida Gators continue to roll through the College Football Standings. Tim Tebow's Florida Gators scored 70 points on Saturday in what probably was Tebow's last game at "The Swamp."
Since Tim Tebow keeps getting better and better while the Detroit Lions keep getting worse, here's my predction:
The Detroit Lions will get the first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Detroit will use that choice to select Quarterback Tim Tebow.
The last Quarterback the Detroit Lions drafted in the first round was Joey Harrington out of Oregon, but hopefully Tebow becomes a better quarterback than Joey Harrington.

Chicago Cubs Will Officially Play First Series At New Yankee Stadium
Before the New York Yankees play the Cleveland Indians in the 2009 MLB Season Opener, they will play an exhibition series in the New Yankee Stadium.
The Cubs will play the Yankees on Friday night April 3 and again the following afternoon.
The ballpark is scheduled for substantial completion by Feb. 17.
The Chicago Cubs are managed by Lou Pinella, who won two World Series Championships with the New York Yankees.
The Yankees open the season April 16th against the Cleveland Indians.
C. C. Sabathia To Yankees A Done Deal?
C.C Sabathia is being courted by the New York Yankees.
The Yankees are, according to reports, offering Sabathia the richest contract for a pitcher ever, six years and slightly higher than the record $137.5 million deal lured Johan Santana to the New York Mets before last season.
The New York Yankees found themselves in unfamiliar territory last season (Not in The Playoffs) and they are going to throw money at their deficencies, just like the Yankees have always done.
The other part of this is that while this is astronomical salry for any pitcher, C.C. loves the National League because he gets a chance to swing the bat. It would be funny if C.C. put a provision in his Yankees contract saying something like "The New York Yankees will not use a Designated Hitter on Days C.C. is pitching." That way C.C would still get to bat.
This won't happen, though.
The Yankees need to regroup after missing the playoffs. C.C. Sabathia is a great first step.

Cubs Resign Ryan Dempster
The Chicago Cubs have officicialy resigned Ryan Dempster.
Dempster and the Cubs agreed to a $52 million, four-year contract that includes a player option for 2012.
Dempster was 17-6 with a 2.96 ERA for the Cubs last season.
Ryan Dempster made a successful transition from closing to starting last season, the most difficult change a pitcher can make. I'm glad to see the Cubs kept their rotation in check, even if their bullpen is a questionmark now that Kerry Wood is gone.

Albert Pujols Wins Second NL MVP Award
St. Louis Cardinals First Baseman Albert Pujols won his second NL MVP award.
Pujols won the NL MVP award by a substantial margin over Philladelphia Phillies First Baseman Ryan Howard.
Voting was done before the Playoffs began.
Pujols hit .357 with 37 homeruns and 116 RBIs while playing with a sore right elbow that required surgery. Howard hit 48 homers with 146 RBIs for the Phillies.
Congrats to Albert on winning his second NL MVP award.

The Kerry Wood Era Is Over In Chicago
The Cubs traded for Closer Kevin Gregg, ending Kerry Wood's ten years of service to the Cubs.
The Chicago Cubs made a shocking announcement on Friday.
The rumors were true. Kerry Wood was not coming back.
The Cubs on Thursday traded for Closer Kevin Gregg from Florida, ending Wood's career in Cubbie Blue.
Closing duties will now apparently go to Carlos Marmol, who was in the running to close last year. Gregg may also be used in Save situations this year.
As a Cubs fan, it pains me to write this. Wood's been one of the best, classiest guys in all of Baseball, and I can't beieve he's not coming back.
It's going to be hard to watch Kerry with his new team, but I think Cubs fans will wish him the best with his new ballclub.
It's the end of an era in Chicago.

Nick Swisher Heading To The Bronx
The New York Yankees have found a guy who can play First base, and It's not Mark Texiera.
The Yankees traded for Nick Swisher.
In return, the White Sox gave the Yankees infielder Wilson Betemeit and a Minor league pitcher.
It certainly looks like Texiera is off the table now, but Swisher may be plugged into the outfield if they still want to chase Texiera.

Cliff Lee Wins AL Cy Young Award
Cliff Lee was one of the few bright spots for the Cleveland Indians this season.
Cliff Lee was recognized for it today as he won the American League Cy Young Award.
Lee went a major league-best 22-3 this season with a 2.54 ERA. He received 24 of 28 first-place votes and 132 points in balloting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
Toronto ace Roy Halladay was a distant runner-up with four first-place votes and 71 points. Record-setting closer Francisco Rodriguez of the Los Angeles Angels finished third with 32 points.
Congrats to Cliff Lee on winning the AL Cy Young award.

Lou Piniella,Joe Maddon: MLB Managers Of The Year
Lou Pinella once managed in Tampa Bay.
Joe Maddon now does manage in Tampa Bay.
The current Cubs and Rays skippers were honored for their team's performance during the regular season.
Lou Piniella was honored as the National League Manager of the year.
Piniella managed the Chicago Cubs to the National League's best record, a 97 win season, in 2008. The Cubs were the National League's best team in the regular season, even if they did Nothing right in the postseason.
Joe Maddon was honored as the American League's Manager of the Year.
Joe Maddon helped reverse the culture of losing in Tampa Bay, as Maddon led Tampa to a 100 win season in the American League East, tough to do considering that is the same division that the Yankees and Red Sox both play in. Maddon also helped lead Tampa Bay to the 2008 World Series.
Congratulations to these managers on their acheivement.

In his second season, Giants Ace Tim Lincecum won the National League Cy Young Award.
Lincecum was 18-5 with a 2.62 ERA and a major league-best 265 strikeouts.
Tim was the best pitcher in Baseball this season, and I'm glad to see he got recognized.

Matt Holliday Traded
Matt Holdiay, one of the key pieces from the Colorado Rockies "Rocktober" run of 2007, has been traded.
Holliday is heading to the Oakland Athetics.
Huston Street, lefty starter Greg Smith and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez may be among the players that are sent to Colorado.
After Holliday basically dared the Rockies to trade him last week, the trade talks with the St. Louis Cardinals died down.
Holliday is representes by Scott Boras, meaning Holliday will command a lot of money on the Open market this coming offseason.
Good move by the Rockies to get some good players out of the deal.
Geo Soto, Evan Longoria: 2008 Rookies Of The Year
2008 was one of the greatest rookie classes in recent memory.
Two rookies had the most memorable performances.
Chicago Cubs Catcher Geovanny Soto won the National League Rookie Of the Year Award. It wasn't just his great offensive numbers (he had the most homeruns by a rookie catcher since Mike Piazza), but how he commanded the Cubs pitching rotation. Soto caught Carlos Zambrano's No Hitter against the Houston Astros.
The Last Cub to win a Rookie Of The Year Award was Kerry Wood in 1998.
Tampa Bay Rays Third Baseman Evan Longoria was the catalyst in the Tampa Bay Rays and their Cinderella Season in 2008. Longoria won the American League Rookie Of The Year Award.
Congratulations to the winners.

Congratulations to The MLB Gold Glove Winners!
Greg Maddux won a record 18th Gold Glove.
The MLB Gold Glove Award Winners were unveiled this week. If you missed it, here is a quick recap of the winners.
National League
P, Greg Maddux, LAD
C, Yadier Molina, STL
1B, Adrian Gonzalez, SD
2B, Brandon Phillips, CIN
3B, David Wright, NYM
SS, Jimmy Rollins, PHI
OF, Carlos Beltran, NYM
OF, Nate McLouth, PIT
OF, Shane Victorino, PHI
Greg Maddux won a record 18th Gold Glove, and I was not expecting Adrian Gonzalez to be on the list. However, Adrian was one of the few bright spots the Padres had this season. Ditto with Nate McLouth on the Pirates.
And In The American League:
American League
P, Mike Mussina, NYY
C, Joe Mauer, MIN
1B, Carlos Pena, TB
2B, Dustin Pedroia, BOS
3B, Adrian Beltre, SEA
SS, Michael Young, TEX
OF, Torii Hunter, LAA
OF, Grady Sizemore, CLE
OF, Ichiro Suzuki, SEA
It was good to see a Ray get on this list. All of Baseball knew about Carlos Pena's offense, but his defense is why he is one of the best first basemen in the American League. I was expecting to see Jacoby Ellsbury's name on the list.
Congratulations to all the Gold Glove Winners.

Manny Ramirez Is About To Get PAID!
The Los Angeles Dodgers REALLY want Manny Ramirez back!
Dodgers General Manager Ned Colletti said that their offer trails only Alex Rodriguez when it comes to money per year.
