World Series Broken Beyond Repair

The Tampa Bay Rays and the Philladelphia Phillies are playing baseball, and almost nobody's watching.

The 2008 World Series has been tainted by the errors by the umpires, and the fact that the weather has not been kind in Philly, forcing fans to wait hours (or in tonight's case, days) to watch two teams play (at least) 3 innings of baseball.

The fact that there was almost no big city teams in the series was supposed to be good news for baseball, but when the umpires seem to make at least one bad call a night, it almost seems like all of baseball wants the Phillies to win tonight.

The World Series, the crowning jewel of Baseball Season, is broken beyond repair. It's a shame.

Phillies Hit 3 Homers in Game Three Win

Ryan Howard ended his home run drought and the Phillies clubbed three solo homers in a 5-4, game three win over Tampa Bay. Philadelphia leads the World Series two games to one.

Carlos Ruiz hit a ball to third baseman Evan Longoria, who fielded the ball barehanded and threw wildly past catcher Dioner Navarro, allowing Bruntlett to score on the first walk-off infield single in World Series history.
The Phillies win a 5-4 thriller, and lead the series 2-1.

Rays Top Phillies 4-2 to Tie World Series

The Tampa Bay Rays used 'Small Ball' to beat the Phillies 4-2 Thursday night to even the World Series at one game apiece. James Shields scattered seven hits over five and two-thirds innings for the Rays.

The Phillies, no question, have the edge for the next two games, as they will be in Phily. Tampa Bay loses their DH for the next two games, so we will see how they respond.

It looks like we are in for a long, good series.

David Beckham To Be Loaned To AC Milan

Get ready to see this in 2009.
More news from the world of soccer. AC Milan is about to get David Beckham on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Beckham is heading to Millan since MLS season is almost over, and
Beckham wants to join another club in Europe so he can remain match fit and keep his place in England's squad for World Cup qualifying.

England's coach, Fabio Copello said that he will not choose inactive players.

Good move by Beckham and a good move by AC Milan. Beckham would join a fantastic squad at Milan, including Brazil standouts Ronaldinho, Kaka and Alexandre Pato, plus Italy's Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso.

AC Millan has underperformed this season. If Beckham and Ronaldinho find their form that helped them become player of the year, AC Millan should be one of the best teams in Italian Serie A, even if he is only on loan.

The World Series Is Here!

The 2008 World Series is finally here! The Philladelphia Phillies are in the World Series for the first time since 1993. Their opponents, the Tampa Bay Rays, weren't even in Major League Baseball in 1993. Ever since The Rays became a franchise in 1998, they had never finished above fourth place in the AL East and had never won more than 70 games. They crushed both marks this season, as Tampa Bay not only won the AL East, but they did it by winning 97 games.

This individual series will be awesome. The Phillies offense against the Rays piching.

The Homefield advantage could be a huge factor here, that alone favors Tampa Bay.

Game One gives us an excellent pitching matchup, as both team's aces will duel on Wednesday night. Scott Kazmir goes for the Rays while Cole Hamels pitches for the Phillies. Both of these starters can match eacch other pitch for pitch, strike for strike, out for out, and strikeout for strikeout. Both starters may duel to a no decision, meaning the manager that wisely uses his bullpen will get the win.

If the pitching doesn't hold up it's end of the bargain, both offenses can match each other homerun for homerun.Evan Longoria and Carlos Pena versus Pat Burrell and Ryan Howard. If that happens, this series is a real toss up.

My two hope for this series are the following:
1: It is Not a Sweep
2: I Hope the series goes seven games.

There has not been a World Series to go seven games since 2001, when the upstart Arizona Diamondbacks upset the New York Yankees in seven thrilling, action packed games.

Now onto my pick for the series:

I Can't believe I'm saying this, but the Tampa Bay Rays will win the World Series. After The Rays win the World Series, you may never find an empty seat again in Tropicana Field.

Josh Hamilton Discusses Baseball&'Beyond Belief'

The AP's Ben Walker interviews Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers. In his new book "Beyond Belief," the former No. 1 draft pick of the Tampa Bay Rays discusses his remarkable comeback from drug addiction back to the Major Leagues.

Josh Hamilton has an incredible story. Now America will get to read about it in his new book.

Josh knows what it's like to hit rock bottom and then rise to the top.

Rumor or Reality: Varitek to Leave Red Sox

Boston's veteran catcher becomes a free agent at the end of the season and after career-low numbers in 2008, there's rumor he may not be back.

It would be weird not seeing Varitek behind the plate of the Red Sox, but it is understandable why they would let him go, especially if they want more offensive production from their catcher.

I would expect Kevin Cash to become the full time catcher if Varitek is let go.

Red Sox Force Game 7 in ALCS by Topping Rays

There's going to be a seventh game to decide which American League team goes to the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Boston Red Sox beat Tampa Bay 4-2 to even the American League Championship Series at three games apiece.

I believe the Red Sox will win tonight. The pitching matchup tonight is awesome. Jon Lester facing Matt Garza. I think both starts again may leave to a pair of No Decisions, but the bullpens will decide this game. That favors Boston.

Watch Game Seven Of The American League Championship Series tonight on TBS.

Five Questions For Tonight's ALCS Game Six

James Shields tries to send the Rays to the World Series tonight.
1. How will The Rays Rebound following the Blown game Five?
The Rays cruised out to a 7-0 lead before putting the game in Cruise Control. The Rays bullpen was terrible, in particular Dan Wheeler, who lost his command in the final two innings.

The Rays must cruise out to an early lead and hold on to it. If not, Boston has all of the momentum they had Thursady night right back.

2. How Will Josh Beckett respond?
Josh Beckett has pitched in many big games in his career, including the 2003 and 2007 World Series. This game is just as big. Beckett has a knack for pitching his best when his team needs him to. Beckett and Shields will engage in a pitcher's duel, and both pichers may duel to a no decision, meaning the bullpens will be the key to this game.

3. Is "Big Papi" Back?
David Ortiz hit a homerun last night during the comeback that helped Boston come back. Ortiz looks like he's healthy again, and the Red Sox need him to get it done tonight.

4. Will The Rays pitch to J.D Drew late in the game?
J.D. Drew has been clutch this entire postseason. He had the winning hit in the American League Division Series, and he had the huge homerun last night that cut the defecit to just a single run. He then stepped up when the game was tied in the bottom of the ninth and Drew hit the game winning base hit.

5. Who for the Rays will step up tonight?
Evan Longoria, B.J. Upton and Carlos Pena have been Tampa's three biggest players, but the Rays will need more production from guys like Jason Bartlett, Cliff Floyd, and Aki Iwamura.

Watch Game Six tonight on TBS.

John Madden To Take A Week Off

John Madden has sat next to Pat Summerall and Al Michaels for 476 straight games. Madden, famous for his love of football and his fear of flying, travels to and from games in his "Madden Cruiser" bus.

The streak comes to an end this Sunday night.

Madden had to make third straight trips across america, and Madden will instead visit his family.

This sunday night, the Seattle Seahawks play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

John Madden will be replaced by Chris Collinsworth this Sunday night.

Red Sox Comeback To Win Game Five

The Rays blew a seven-run lead in an 8-7 loss to the Boston Red Sox in Game 5 of the ALCS, cutting their lead to 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.

What an incredible game that was!
Don't count out the Red Sox. They've come back from a 3-1 and a 3-0 defecit before.

The best news for Tampa is at least they are heading home to play game six.

Troy Polamalu Calls NFL "Pansie Game"

Troy Polamalu is ticked off that the NFL has fined Hines Ward for two plays that were not penalized. Polamalu went off on the NFL, and so did former NFL Player Mark Schlereth.

I agree with Polamalu and Schlereth. Dick Butkus, Ronnie Lott, Jack Tatum, and other great defensive players of that era would not be able to survive in this game because of the bubble that the Quarterback has around him. You can't hit them after they've released the ball. You can't touch Wide Recievers after five yards.

I also agree that The NFL only cares about you as long as you are making money. After you retire, they don't care. It's a shame. Mike Ditka knows all about this. Ditka said this on behalf of John Mackey, Jerry Kramer, Joe DeLamielleure, and others who have severe injuries from playing football.

The NFL should start taking better care of their players, current and retired. It's a shame that they aren't.

Cole Hammels Pitches Phillies to World Series

The Philadelphia Phillies will be playing in their first World Series since 1993. Cole Hammels, the Phils ace pitcher, helped get them there by winning game five in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Congratulations to the Phillies.

Watch The Red Sox try to avoid elimination to the Tampa Bay Rays tonight on TBS. The Rays are going for the knockout punch by starting Scott Kazmir tonight. Tony Romo Out Four Weeks With Broken Finger

Tony Romo will miss four weeks with a broken finger, ESPN is reporting.

Romo broke the finger during the Cowboys loss to Arizona.

40 year old Brad Johnson will be the Quarterback for the next four weeks.

Johnson last started Week 17 for Dallas in a loss to Washington.

Obviously, the loss of Romo is huge. Romo loves to move around, while Brad Johnson is your classic Pocket Passer.

Will the clash in styles effect the Cowboys? We'll find out next week when the Cowboys play the Rams, who just got their first win of the season last week.

Benches Clear in Game 3 of NLCS

Both benches and bullpens cleared Sunday night in Game 3 of the NL championship series, moments after Los Angeles Dodgers' starter Hiroki Kuroda threw a pitch over Shane Victorino's head. The AP's Dave Ferry reports from L.A.

In Case you missed it, here is the video of that entire moment.

The Brawl was the most interesting part of the game. The rest of the game was a snoozer, as illustrated by the score.

Both teams so far have won every game at home.

Tampa Bay Wins Slugfest on Sacrifice Fly

The Tampa Bay Rays tied the ALCS with Boston at a game apiece, after B.J. Upton's sacrifice fly ended a contest in which the two teams combined for a postseason record 7 homers.

We have one heck of an ALCS as things head back to Boston. The ALCS has been the much more interesting postseason series.

My ALCS Preview

The Amazin' Rays are heading for a collision with the defending World Series Champion Boston Red Sox

The American League Championship Series features the team of destiny, the Tampa Bay Rays, against their division rival, the defending World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.

Friday Night, Game One starts. James Shields will be opposed by Daisuke Mastuzaka.

Home Field Advantage heads to The Rays. During the season, Tampa Bay won the season series against the Red Sox 10-8.

It seemed like Tampa Bay waited until late in the game to strike. I remember watching the September 10th game between these two teams on ESPN. Nobody Scored after the third inning. Eleven innings later, they were still playing baseball. Then, Carlos Pena stepped up and hit a Monster three run homerun to give the Rays a 4-1 lead. The RedSox would get a dacrafice fly in the bottom of the inning, but it wouldn't be enough, as the Red Sox won 4-2.

The Rays have this amazing ability to come back late in ballgames. They are never out of a ballgame until every out has been recorded.

Akinori Iwamura and Evan Longoria have been On Fire! Expect Boston to pitch to them carefully.

Jason Bay has been a solid replacement for Manny Ramirez, in the field and at the plate.

The Team Of Destiny versus the defending World Series Champions. This series will be awesome!

My NLCS Preview

Manny Ramirez Is On Fire!
The NLCS starts tonight on Fox. The Los Angeles Dodgers come in after Sweeping the team with the National League's best record during the regular season, the Chicago Cubs. The Philladelphia Phillies come in after beating the Milwaukee Brewers in four games. This series will be awesome. Here is a look at some of the key factors for the game.

What does the Season Series Tell Us? Home Field Advantage will make all the difference in this series. During the regular season, in the two series these teams played, the Home team Swept the opposing team.

Will The Phillies Pitch to Manny Ramirez? Will the Dodgers pitch to Ryan Howard? Choosing when to pitch to a batter and when to swallow your pride and give someone an intentional walk may be a huge key in this series.

Will The Dodger Pitching be as Shut down as it was against The Cubs? If so, the Phillies will be in trouble.

Who Are The Gamechangers for their Team? For LA, It's Manny Ramirez. For Philly, It's Ryan Howard.

The Los Angeles Dodgers just won their first postseason series since 1988. The Phillies are in the NLCS for the first time since 1993, when they went to the World Series.

I Can't wait for this series. It's gonna be a blast!

The War Is On Between Tim McCarver And Manny Ramirez

Tim McCarver just tried to get people to remember who he is by commenting on Manny Ramirez's tirade before he left Boston.
McCarver called Ramirez's Actions "Despicable."
Here Is Manny Ramirez's response to what McCarver said.

Here is McCarver On ESPN Talking about what he said and why he said it.

What did people remember McCarver for doing before this game? Tim McCarver hit a "Grand Slam Single" On our country's Bicentennial. A "Grand Slam Single" is when a batter hit a grand slam but subsequently passed the runner ahead of them on the base paths, which according to the rules of Major League Baseball causes the runner who passes his teammate to be called out.

When McCarver was asked how he hit the Grand Slam Single, he Replied "sheer speed".

I personally believe McCarver is yapping because he is trying to get more people to watch the NLCS. He feels like he needs to add extra drama to it, as if it needs any more drama.

Angels, White Sox Each Force a Game 4

The Angels forced a game four in their playoff series with the Red Sox, after beating Boston 5-4 in 12 innings Sunday night. The White Sox will also play in a game four, after their 5-3 win over the Rays.

Kimbo Slice Loses To Seth Petruzelli

Seth Petruzelli replaced Shamrock due to a training injury cut to the left eye that was sustained during a warm up only hours before the fight was to take place.

Kimbo Slice was supposed to be fighting Ken Shamrock, but Seth Petruzelli replaced Shamrock due to a cut to the left eye that was sustained during a warm up only hours before the fight was to take place.

Seth beat down Kimbo Slice is only 14 seconds. Ken Shamrock would have also destroyed Kimbo Slice.

The highlight of Elite XC after the Gina Carano fight was the news that Tito Ortiz was apparently a week away from signing a deal with Elite XC. Then Kimbo Slice was beat down not by Ken Shamrock, but by Seth Petruzelli.

Was Kimbo's loss a fluke? Only a rematch will tell.

Cubs Chokejob All Too Familiar

The Chicago Cubs were swept out of the postseason by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers and Cubs both scored the least ammount of runs in this series.

Here's My Postseason Rant On The Cubs:

2008 was supposed to be the Cubs year, as was 2003, 1998, 1989, 1984, 1969, 1945, and 1909.

2008 was different than any of these other years. Much different.

The Cubs had homefield advantage throughout the postseason. They had 97 wins, the best in the National League. Carlos Zambrano threw a no-hitter in September, and the Cubs led the league in runs scored, but you never would have known that the way they played in the postseason.

The Dodgers and Phillies have that one guy that's a gamechanger. For The Cubs, it was supposed to be Derrek Lee, but he hasn't been the same since Rafael Furcal collided with Derrek, breaking Derrek's wrist.

Alfonso Soriano had just one hit in the entire series. The Dodgers scouted him and all the Cubs well.

Give Credit to the Dodgers. They did everything right, while Chicago did almost nothing right. That's why LA won the series.

Manny Ramirez was the X-Factor of this series. Manny Ramirez had to hit two mammoth homeruns off Chicago pitching for the Cubs to discover something called "The Intentional Walk."

The Cubs did not play the same way they played in the regular season. It was almost like they felt the combined weight of 100 years and Cubs Nation on their shoulders.

Another season of promise for the Cubs ends with familiar dissapointment.

This Cubs chokejob was so dissapointing, yet it was also all too familiar.

Dodgers Sweep, Brewers Win in NL Playoffs

The LA Dodgers are on to the next round of baseball's playoffs, after beating the Cubs 3-1 to sweep the series. Milwaukee kept its' hopes alive, defeating Philadelphia 4-1. But the Brewers still trail two games to one.

Red Sox, Rays Take 2-0 Series Leads

J.D. Drew belted a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning, leading Boston to a 7-5 win over the Angels. The Red Sox lead the best of five series two games to none.

Here's J.D. Drew talking about that huge homerun last night off Francisco Rodriguez:

The Rays beat the White Sox for a 2-0 lead in their playoff series.

Rocco Baldelli And J.P. Howell Talk After The Rays Game 2 Win:

Here's Joe Maddon talking about Akinori Iwamura's huge homerun last night:

Both Chicago teams have choked in this series. Tonight, the Cubs will try to avoid a sweep. Tommorow, the White Sox will try to do the same.

Baseball Tonight Looks Ahead to tonight's games:

Watch The Brewers and Cubs try to avoid elimination tonight on TBS.

Tim Kurkjian On The Struggling Cubs

Tim Kurkjian talks about the Cubs' playoff woes.

The Cubs are just about dead in this one.

Each Cubbie infielder had a hole in their glove Thursday night, and Manny Ramirez continues to show that the Cubs need to use the intentional walk.

Some Questions:

Why is Derrek Lee still hitting in the three spot? I would have put Aramis in the three spot, and move Derrek down in the order.

Why Is Manny Ramirez still being pitched to?

Why are the Cubs and Angels down 0-2 in their series?

Why is the NL's best offense being outscored tenfold?

Will The Cubs fight back and make this a series, or will their lack of plate discipline and shaky defense lead to another three and out in the postseason?

Watch Game Three tonight on TBS.

BBTN Minute: Cubs Fall To Dodgers

Dodgers And Cubs Talk After Game 1

If The Cubs don't win tonight, they will have to win on the road.

Carlos Zambrano MUST pitch like an ace tonight, and the offense MUST wake up!

Where was the Cubs Home Field Advantage last night? I Sure didm't hear it. After that James Loney Grand Slam, you could have heard a pin drop at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs fans need to forget about the 100 years, being five outs away in 2003, Durham, All of that. That was in the past. The Cubs want to win in the present. Their fans should cheer for the Cubs with reckless abandonment, reguardless of the score.

Playoff Wins for Red Sox, Dodgers and Phillies

The Dodgers' James Loney hit a grand slam as LA topped the Cubs 7-2; Jayson Bay belted a two-run homer as the Red Sox beat the Angels 4-1; Philadelphia got strong pitching from Cole Hamels in a 3-1 win over Milwaukee.

The MLB Postseason Is Here! I LIVE FOR THIS!

Prince Fielder,Derrek Lee, Ryan Howard, and David Ortiz are ready for the postseason.

The 2008 MLB Posteason Is Here! Here Is My Analysis of the Divisional Playoff Matchups:

ALDS: WHITE SOX VS RAYS
The White Sox had to battle to get to the postseason. They won that makeup game against the Twins to tie for the AL Central, and then they won that tiebreaker game against the Twins to advance to the ALDS to play the red hot Tampa Bay Rays.

Tampa Bay leads the season series against the White Sox 6-4. In these games, the Rays had a knack for waiting until late in the ballgame to strike, and when they struck late, it was for the win nearly every time.

I think this series has the most potential to go all five games. I'm going to go with the White Sox, especially if their bullpen is as strong as it has been in the last few days.
WHITE SOX IN FIVE

ALDS: RED SOX VS ANGELS

This series should be a lot of fun. There will be a lot of runs scored in this series, and I like the Angels. They have been the best team in the American League all season. As someone who saw the Angels play in person on September 19th,They have so many ways they can beat you. They can outhit you, outpitch you, and when Francisco Rodriguez on the mound in the ninth inning, those games are over, no question about it.

The Angels lead the season Series 8-1, and that was before the Red Sox unloaded Manny Ramirez.
ANGELS IN THREE

NLDS: PHILLIES VS BREWERS

This is another series that I think will be a lot of fun. I think both Prince Fielder and Ryan Howard will both be huge factors in their teams and how they do.

Starting Pitching wise, Milwaukee has the edge, especially with C.C Sabathia. The fact that he threw a complete game on Sunday on three days rest is incredible!

Bullpen wise, Philly has a huge advantage, especially when you consider Brad Lidge, the Phillies closer, has been PERFECT in his save opportunities! 41 for 41 in save chances!

Offense wise, Philly has a slight edge. Yes, Milwaukee has Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder, but Philly has Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Pedro Feliz, and Ryan Howard lead an offense that Is Scary Good.

Philly beat Milwaukee 5-1 in the season series.

NLDS: DODGERS VS CUBS

This is the series I will be looking forward to. The thing that turned the season around for the Los Angeles Dodgers was the trade of Manny Ramirez. Why Is Manny Ramirez doing so well in Los Angeles? He no longer has a 37 foot high Green Monster out in left field taking away lots of shots that would-be homers at every other ballpark.

The Dodgers are more than just Manny Ramirez. They have Matt Kemp, Andre Eithier, and James Loney. This team has been able to fuse the young talent along with the veteran leadership, and as a result, the Dodgers are in the postseason.

Game One of this series should be a lot of fun. You have Ryan Dempster getting the ball for the Cubs. Dempster won 17 games for the Cubs this year, after he spent last season as the Cubs closer! Derek Lowe for the Dodgers is a classic sinkerballer, just like Brandon Webb. Hopefully the Cubbies plate discipline doesn't disappear when they head to the postseason.

This Cubs team is different than last season's team that went three and out in the National League Division Series. The Cubs have five players with at least 20 home runs, five with at least 74 RBIs, and Three pitchers that have at least 14 wins.

Another thing that the Cubs didn't have last year that should make the difference is Home Field Advantage. The Cubs have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. That 10th man, the crowd, makes all the difference.

In The Season series, the Cubs went 5-2 against the Dodgers this season. However, The Dodgers have become a much different team since then. Manny Ramirez really has made all the difference.
