Kurt Warner Named Cardinals Starting Quarterback
When Arizona plays division rival San Francisco September 7th, Kurt Warner will be the starting quarterback.
Here's Coach Ken Whisenhunt talking about the difficult decision.
That's a great call by coach Ken Whisenhunt. I've always been a Kurt Warner fan. He's one of the greatest sucess stories in NFL History. I've never been a Matt Leinart fan. To me, it looks like he thinks that everything should be given to him.
Kurt Warner threw for the most 300 yard games last season. Arizona would have been better than 8-8 if their defense had improved.
Can Kurt Warner finally lead the Cardinals to a place they haven't seen in Ten Seasons, the playoffs? If San Francisco falters again, that could become a possibility.

Nastia Liukin, Brian Clay To Appear on Wheaties Boxes
Congratulations to Nastia Liukin and Brian Clay, as both Gold medal winners will now appear on "The Breakfast Of Champions", Wheaties.
Where's Shawn Johnson's Wheaties Box? She played great as well, and maybe we should give the "Redeem Team" their own Wheaties Box.

NFL Clears Pacman to Play for Cowboys
It was a dangerous move for Jerry Jones to lure Adam Jones to Dallas, but if Pacman helps Dallas get past the first round of the playoffs, I'm sure all Cowboys fans will come on board.

Shawne Merriman's putting his career on the line for the sake of the San Diego Chargers. Hopefully, the injury doesn't hamper him too much, and hopefully he is able to play the full season without making the injury worse.

MLB Instant Replay To Start On Thursday
Expect to see less of this, Starting Thursday.
Baseball has finally caught up with the times.
Major League Baseball will allow umpires to check video on home run calls in series that start Thursday.
Three series are scheduled to start Thursday, with Philadelphia at the Chicago Cubs, Minnesota at Oakland and Texas at the Los Angeles Angels. For other games, replays will be available to umpires starting Friday.
For now, video will be used only on so-called "boundary calls," such as determining whether fly balls went over the fence, whether potential home runs were fair or foul and whether there was fan interference on potential home runs.
Good to see that Baseball is catching up with the times. For those who say "this will make baseball even longer now" I think It doesn't matter how long it takes, as long as they get the calls right, especially as we head into October with the Postseason and the World Series!
Here's ESPN's Buster Olney on MLB's decision to start using instant replay with series starting on Thursday.

Will Michael Strahan Come Out Of Retirement?
Don't count on it, Giants fans. One thing Michael Strahan proved last year was that you didn't need Training Camp to still be at the top of your game.
The loss of Osi Umenyora for the season hurts, but I think the Giants will shift their defense instead of luring Strahan out of retirement.
Michael Strahan retired a Champion, but will he stay that way?
Olympics '08: Dwayne Wade's Final Video Diary
Team USA Is back on top of the Basketball World, and rightfully so. Kobe Bryant, the best player in the world, hit a big four point play late. Dwayne Wade then followed with a three pointer that made the score 111-104 with less than two minutes left As America beat Spain 108-107 to win the Gold Medal.

Madden NFL 09 Review
It's the twentieth season of Madden Football. While everyone is reviewing the PS3 and XBox 360 versions of this game, I am reviewing the Xbox version of this game. I am reviewing the last Xbox game ever made.
Perhaps right off the bat, you will see the newest addition to the game is EA Sports Family Play, which is the same thing that is on Madden 09: All Stars for the Nintendo Wii. Basically, anyone that just wants to play Madden without learning all of the different formations can do it here. For example, Instead of Shotgun and I Form, You have Deep Pass, Run Right, and run left. Everything is mapped to the A Button, from passing to running to hughlight moves, Hit Sticks, and Kicking.
In Madden offensively, you now have the ability to select your own touchdown celebration. You can chose between subdued, Multiplayer, or Over The Top Celevrations.
Probably the wierdest mode in Madden is the Fantasy Challenge. Basically you work your way up from the Newbie League to the top league in the game. To get promoted to the next league, you have to play a fantasy team for the title of League Champion. You can chose to keep your current roster, enter a Fantasy Draft, or enter a Hall Of Fame Draft.
Once you beat the league champion, they are unlocked in Play Now and Family Play Modes.
Franchise Mode is the same as usual, but it now has a Decade Scoring System, which grades you based on how well you complete tasks. Franchise Mode still has GM Mode, which is still not on the next gen consoles.
Superstar mode is back, and you now get the ability to play as a rookie from this year's draft class. There's not really anthing new with this mode.
Soundwise, Al Michaels and John Madden still provide commentary and they still sound great. I would still take Michaels and Madden above Tom Hammond and Chris Collinsworth on the Next Gen Versions anyway.
Graphically, the graphics have recieved somewhat of an improvement. There are some new animations as well.
There are a couple of new stadiums in this game. Rogers Centre in Toronto is in the game for the Bills-Steelers Preseason Game, and Lucas Oil Stadium, the new home of the Indianapolis Colts, is in the game. You also get the Super Bowl stadiums for this and the next three years.
Back to the rosters in this game. Brett Favre is on the 2007 Packers and not anywhere else, and you cannot take him off the 2007 Packers, so those of you looking to put him on the Jets, you're out of luck.
More with the rosters, many rookies that were drafted late are not in the game. Mike Hart, the running back out of Michigan who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts isn't in the game. Ditto with Colt Brennan, the NCAA Record Breaking Quarterback from Hawaii who was drafted by the Washington Redskins.
In Closing, It was a suprise to me when I heard Madden NFL 08 was being made for the Xbox. It's still a great game, and if you have an XBox or PS2 still, give Madden 08 a shot. I bought the last XBox game ever made, and Madden was a little better than I was expecting.

A cracked molar couldn't stop Carlos Zambrano against the Reds.

Brett Favre's Arm Is Fatigued
Brett Favre's rocket may have lost some of it's power.
Favre today said his arm felt "Fatigued" and he would begin asking for fewer throws in the afternoon.
Favre said he is still learning the Jets offense, and he said he is learning just enough for him to make his preseason debut on Saturday.
On A Second Note..

The Diamondbacks, Like The Dodgers, Have Traded For A New Left Fielder
The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded for a left fielder with some pop in his bat.
Two Weeks after their division rival Los Angeles Dodgers traded for Manny Ramirez, the Arizona Diamondbacks have traded for slugger Adam Dunn.
Cincinnati will recieve pitcher Dallas Buck and two other players.
The NL West Race has just got really interesting. I Can't wait to See Manny and Adam Dunn square off against each other for the division!

"Broadway Brett" Makes First Statements Since Trade
Click on the video below to see Favre's first public statement as a member of the New York Jets.
Here's Michael Bloomberg presenting Favre with his Street Sign.
Finally, the Brett Favre saga is over. Favre was traded from the Packers to the Jets. "Broadway Brett", as I'll call him, has joined the toughest division in the AFC, the AFC East. Now Favre and Tom Brady will meet up twice this season. This is great news for all of us Football Fans.
The trade of Favre meant the Jets had to let Chad Pennington go. Pennington will draw interest from another team, like Miami, another AFC East team.
"Broadway Brett" has become the most prolific Quarterback to join the Jets since "Broadway Joe", Joe Namath. Will this result in the Jets making the playoffs? Jets fans sure hope so.
The Patriots won't go 16-0 again this season. "Broadway Brett" will make sure of it.

Bucs, Jets New Favre Frontrunners
Now, Packers fans are holding their breath until the Packers trade Brett Favre out of Lambeau. The Packers are refusing to budge, as they keep saying Aaron Rodgers is their starter and Brett Favre is nowhere in their plans. Brett Favre's agent said that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets are the new frontrunners to land Brett Favre.
Jon Gruden loves to have about five to six quarterbacks on his Depth chart, but Favre will not be happy if he is relegated to the fifth or sixth guy on the depth chart. Tampa should play Favre immediately if they land him.
How about the Jets? Last season for them was all about Kellen Clemens, as Chad Pennington was relegated to one of the highest paid backups in the NFL last year. Would Favre join Pennington as a benchwarmer?
The Jets should also play Favre if they land him, but if he goes to the Jets, that may result in another situation like the one in Green Bay.
Whoever lands Favre should play him. If he wants to win for your team, I say: let him. Don't let him sit on the bench.

The White Sox Will Not Let Kansas City Push Them Around
Miguel Olivo, Zack Grienke, Ozzie Guillen and Trey Hillman were all suspended for their roles in a bench clearing brawl between the Royals and White Sox.
Kansas City was up 14-3 before Sox Pitcher D.J. Carrasco hit Olivo with a pitch. Olivo charged the mound, and the benches were emptied immediately.
Will the White Sox road woes continue against the Tigers?
If the Sox road woes keep going, that may give Minnesota all it needs to win the AL Central.
I think the White Sox will not let Kansas City or Detroit push them around. I still think the White Sox will win the AL Central.

The Brewers Are Fighting Themselves
Ned Yost, just like one year ago, has lost the handle on his team.
Brewers first Baseman Prince Fielder exchanged words with pitcher Manny Parra in the seventh inning. Parra and Fielder had a less than friendly conversation which resulted in Fielder shoving Parra twice before teammates got involved.
The Brewers lost 6-3 to the Reds. Their once slender lead in the wild card has now slimmed down to just 0.5 a game over their division rival St. Louis Cardinals.
The Brewers have "Willie Randolph Version 2.0" a soft spoken guy in Ned Yost who can't control his team.
Just like Willie, Ned may be fired, especially if Milwaukee misses the postseason again this year.

Back To Square One With Brett Favre
Has Brett Favre left Lambeau for the last time?
It appears as though the Packers are, as I thought, working out trade scenarios for Favre. Favre has said he wants to head to Minnesota or Chicago, but the chances of that happening are slim.

Packers To Welcome Brett Favre Back
It turns out that the cover of Madden NFL 2009 may not feature a retired player after all.
Comissioner Roger Goodell reinstated Brett Favre on Sunday.
ESPN said the Packers would hold an open competition for Favre.
That's they way it should be. Hold an Open competition and let the best man win. It will be intriguing to see what will happen if the Packers still name Aaron Rodgers the starter. Who will Brett Favre get traded to then?
