Chicago Cubs Defeat Defending National League Champion Rockies In Ten Innings For 10,000th Win
It Took Ten Innings, but the Chicago Cubs Finally got it done.
The Chicago Cubs joined the New York/San Francisco Giants as the only teams with 10,000 victories as they beat the defending National League Champion Colorado Rockies 7-6 Wednesday Night.
The win also gave Manager Lou Pinella his 100th win as Chicago Cubs manager.
The Cubs had a 6-5 lead in the ninth and appeared to be within reach of getting the win, but Ryan Spillborghs hit a Triple into right center field scoring former White Sox outfielder Scott Podsednik to tie the game at six.
Ryan Theriot's RBI single off Kip Wells with two outs in the 10th inning Wednesday night gave the Cubs their sixth straight win.
