Both New York Quarterbacks Are In A World Of Hurt

Both Chad Pennington and Eli Manning are feeling the injury bug.

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning took some snaps, made a few handoffs and tossed lightly to test his bruised right shoulder on Wednesday.
Manning did not practice and coach Tom Coughlin gave no indication whether he would play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Backup QB Jared Lorenzen took snaps with the first team, and would make his first career start Sunday if Manning can't play.

Meanwhile, on the other side of New York...

As badly as Jets quarterback Chad Pennington was limping Sunday night, it would have been a stretch of the imagination to picture him practicing this week.
Yet there he was, limbering up Wednesday with the rest of his teammates, lifting his right foot to his left thigh in a lower-body stretch and jogging across the grass practice field and back without any obvious discomfort.

The high ankle sprain that Pennington sustained in the third quarter of the Jets’ 38-14 loss against the New England Patriots, looked as if it would sideline him for the foreseeable future, starting with Sunday’s game at Baltimore.

If Pennington cannot play, Kellen Clemens, a second-year player, will make his debut as an N.F.L. starter against the Ravens, whose defense was ranked No. 1 in the league last year. But the 31-year-old Pennington made it clear both on and off the field that he was determined to shake it off.

Both New York Quarterbacks are in a world of hurt, and both are vital to their team's success. Let's hope they are both not out for very long, as the New York Teams need their Starting Quarterbacks for them to have any hope at all of making the playoffs.
