George In My Corner

Me & George Foreman

Me & George Foreman III

George Foreman's book "God In My Corner."

On Saturday, I met former Boxing Champion George Foreman. He was signing copies of his new book,"God In My Corner". This is a great read just for anyone who knows about George Foreman and wants to know what he has been doing since his boxing career has ended. I sent an attachment with pictures of me & George Foreman. Foreman's sons, George 3, 4, and 5 (George named all five of his sons George) were there too. After I got my pivture taken and shook the hand of George Foreman (he has the biggest hands I've ever seen. Of course, him being a boxer, he had to have big hands.) I got a bite to eat at Burger King. After I was done, I saw the Foreman's bus. Walking out of the bus was the George Foreman's third son, George.I saw George III and asked if he would get a picture with me. He said sure. I got the picture, shook George III's hand and left. That was cool. It's not every day you get to say "I met the former heavyweight champion of the world, George Foreman, and his son, George III."

(NFL) Bears let go of the Tank

The Chicago Bears have let go of the tank. Tank Johnson was released by the Chicago Bears today. The Bears were "embarrassed" by the defensive tackle's legal troubles and say he "compromised the credibility" of the team. Johnson was waived three days after being pulled over in Arizona and arrested for being impaired "to the slightest degree." Tank was already suspended for the first eight games of this upcoming season for violating his probation on a gun charge. He spent two months in jail and was released in May.

Tank Johnson has been released by the Bears. Would anybody be willing to take a chance on a wildcard like him that would only be available for half of the season? I hope not.

(MLB) Cubs Sweep White Sox on South Side of Chicago

The Chicago Cubs did something they have never done on the South Side of Chicago. They had never swept the White Sox at US Ceullar Field until today. The Cubs swept the White Sox on the South Side of Chicago tonight, defeating the White Sox 3-0. Sean Marshall pitched masterfully for the Cubs, allowing only five hits in 6 and 1/3 innings. Alfonso Soriano was the hero of the game and the series. He had leadoff homeruns on Friday and Saturday in the first inning. On Sunday he threw out a runner at home plate in the fifth inning, and then homered in the seventh inning to make it 2-0 Cubs. The White Sox thought they had a double play on a bizarre play in the eighth, but the umpires conferred and ruled that a Cubs baserunner had been interfered with. That loaded the bases and the Cubs added another run, thereby putting away the game. The Cubs win 3-0 and sweep the White Sox at US Ceullar Field for the first time ever.

(Soccer) Thierry Henry heading to Barcelona

Click the video to watch Thierry Henry Scoring an amazing goal.

Thierry Henry will leave Arsenal to head to Barcelona. Henry is leaving Arsenal and transferring to Barcelona for $32 Million dollars. Henry said he chose Barcelona for their play, their history and their stadium. Henry also said a reason for him leaving was the failure of the club to resign it's coach.

Henry is now headed to Barcelona to team up with Ronaldinho, the best soccer player in the world today. Barcelona was dangerous before just with Ronaldinho, but now he is teamed up with Thierry Henry for at least the next four years.

(NBA) Kevin Garnett: Not Heading to Phoenix

Kevin Garnett has shot down a trade to the Boston Celtics in the hope that he will be traded to the Phoenix Suns. Kevin Garnett going to the Phoenix Suns. Sounds great, right? Well, there's a catch. In exchange for Kevin Garnett, the Minnesota Timberwolves want Amare Stoudemire, one of the most powerful young guys in the NBA. This trade isn't happening. Either Minnesota asks for someone other than Amare Stoudemire, or this trade is dead. Kevin Garnett will be stuck in Minnesota for at least this season. At the end of the season, he can opt out.

Kevin Garnett needs to get out of Minnesota. However, just like Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett isn't going anywhere this year.

(MLB) Jason Giambi to talk about Steroids with Senator Mitchell

Jason Giambi suprisingly agreed today to meet with Senator Geroge Mitchell to discuss steroids in Baseball. The Yankee Designated Hitter had a figurative gun to his head to get him to talk. If Giambi did not talk with Senator George Mitchell, he was going to be suspended by Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig. Giambi should have kept his mouth shut about steroids but he didn't. If he refused to talk any more than he already did to USA today, Yankee fans might have found someone else to blame for the Yankees troubles other than A-Rod.

Giambi is going to talk. The Baseball World can only watch and wait.

Congrarulations Sammy Sosa: 600 Career Homeruns

Congratulations to Sammy Sosa, who hit career homerun number 600 tonight against his former team, the Chicago Cubs. Sammy joins Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds, Babe Ruth and Willie Mays as the only players in Major League Baseball History to hit 600 or more career homeruns. Sosa homered on an 1-2 count against Jason Marquis.

This homerun by Sammy was, by and by, Poetic Justice. Sammy hits number 600 against his former team, the Cubs. Sammy homered off of Jason Marquis, who is wearing Sammy's nummber, 21. The game was broadcast on WGN so all of Chicago could watch Slammin' Sammy hit number 600. Tommorow is the eighteenth aniversary of Sammy's First Career Homerun. There are just so many things about that homerun that it was Poetic Justice.

As a Cubs fan and a guy who watched Sammy Sosa play at Wrigley Field on August 14,2002, I say: Bravo Sammy! You did It! Six Hundred! Sammy! Sammy! Sammy!

Michael Barrett has burned his last bridge in Chicago

Former Chicago Cubs Catcher Michael Barrett has burned his last bridge for the Chicago Cubs. Barrett was traded Last Night to the San Diego Padres for Catcher Rob Bowen and a minor league outfielder.

Machael was a good hitter, batting .256 with nine homeruns, but Cubs fans will not remember him for his skills with the bat.

The way Cubs fans will remember Barrett is for his defensive lapses costing the Cubs games, and for his punching of White Sox Catcher A.J. Pierzynski (above), and for his feuds with pitchers Rich Hill and Carlos Zambrano. The feud with Zambrano went as far as Barrett and Zambrano to start launching wild haymakers at each other in the dugout!

Good riddance Michael! The Cubs will be better off without a guy who tears the team apart like you! Koyie Hill and Rob Bowen will be better than you!

TORNADO!

A tornado struck my town on Sunday Night. The most damage was on the street next to mine. My house is fine, some shingles are missing but it is fine. The Street next to mine had the most damage. There were houses that had skirt damage, to one house that was even knocked off of it's foundation. I was in my room, and I heard this freight train pass over my room. It wasn't until our satelite came back up until we found out it was a tornado that has just came over the house. As soon as we heard that, we grabbed the camera and started walking and taking pictures. The police, fire department and ambulance were all there. There would have been no way to pass on the road as it was flooded. We started taking pictures. One person was injured in the tornado that struck Sunday Night. Eighteen people are currently without homes due to the damage of the tornado.

Here is some video of the tornado shot by Robert Johnson on his cell phone. Click on the video to have it begin.

(MLB) Cubs Derrek Lee, Padres Chris Young Suspended Five Games Each

The Chicago Cubs' Derrek Lee and San Diego Padres' Chris Young will each be suspended five games for the meelee that erupted at Wrigley Field on Saturday. San Diego and Chicago are both off today, giving Lee and Young time to think about whether to contest the penalty.

I am suprised that Jake Peavy wasn't suspended. He was out of the dugout, on the field. ready to fight, and all he gets is a fine.

I am also suprised that Carlos Zambrano wasn't suspended. He was ready to fight, that's why he was taking his belt off, and he gets away without a suspension or a fine.

Oh, By The Way, Cubs hitiing instructor Gerald Perry was suspended three games for his role in the melee at Wrigley on Saturday.

(NBA) Kobe wants out of Los Angeles...Again.

Click on the video to see Kobe Bryant's 81 point game against the Raptors in 2005.

Kobe Bryant's 81 point game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006 was the second greatest scoring performance by one man in NBA History. Laker fans flock to the Staples Center in Los Angeles simply to watch Kobe Bryant and his potential to shoot for 50 points a game every time he touches the ball. Laker fans may soon have to watch Kobe shoot for fifty points with another team. Kobe Bryant is wanting to be traded, according to his web site. Kobe says he loves the purple and gold but he does not like the direction the Lakers are heading and wants out of Los Angeles. Sound Familiar? He said the same thing about a month ago. He said in the Morning that he wanted to be traded, but by nightfall said he did not want to be traded. Kobe's price will no doubt be high. The question is: How High can some teams go to lure a player like Kobe Bryant to their team? Obviously, the winners of the Kobe Bryant lottery will be the teams with the most cap room. Kobe Bryant, depending on where he goes, could also change the complection of the NBA Draft. If a team luring to get a young shooting guard out of college all of a sudden lands Kobe Bryant, they can go after other team needs with the draft.

Kobe however is still under contract, and will be for the next couple of years, and that is the biggest reason why Kobe Bryant isn't going anywhere.

MLB: Around The Bases, June 17,2007

Punches thrown in Cubs-Padres game.

This was after San Diego Padres pitcher Chris Young intentionally threw at Cubs First Baseman Derrek Lee, hitting him in his surgically repaired wrist. Lee said a few words to Young, Young said something back, Derrek Lee didn't like the response, and it was on. Lee, Young, fellow Padres Pitcher Jake Peavy and Chicago Cubs hitting instructor Gerald Perry were all ejected from the game. Young may have thrown at Lee because the Padres felt the Cubs' Alfonso Soriano was showboating when he hit his homerun against the Padres Friday. I hate watching guys having baseballs aimed right at their heads, and I don't care what Chris Young says, that was intentional. No doubt, there will be suspensions and fines for all involved in this meelee.

Fast forward to the eighth inning. One Out. Carlos Zambrano has not allowed a hit to this point. Marcus Giles reaches base safely for the first hit of the game for the Padres, putting an end to Carlos Zambrano's no hit bid.

On now to the ninth inning. Full Count to Russell Branyan. He hits the ball deep, and it has just enough to make it over the ivy covered wall, into the basket for a homerun. Padres lead 1-0, and that would be the final score of this game. Carlos Zambrano allows just two hits in this game and gets the loss. However, the bigger story will be: What type of punishment will come from the melee at Wrigley?

In the battle of New York, the Yankees defeated the Mets 11 to 8.

The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Baltimore Ravens 8 to 4.

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Washington Nationals 7 to 3.

The Florida Marlins won a wild game against the Kansas City Royals 9 to 8.

Manny Ramirez homered for the Red Sox as they defeated the Giants 1-0 at Fenway.

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Minnesota Twins 5 to 2.

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Cleveland Indians 6 to 2.

The Chicago White Sox defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6 to 1.

In the Freeway Series, the Angels shut out the Dodgers 3 to 0.

The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Texas Rangers 8 to 4.

The Phillies defeated the Tigers 6 to 3.

Colorado defeated Tampa Bay 10 to 5.

Houston defeated Seattle 9 to 4.

(NASCAR) Dale Jr. to drive for Hendrick Motorsports in 2008: Kyle Busch Odd Man Out.

Click on the video to see the press conference of Dale Earnhardt Jr. announcing he is signing with Hendrick Motorsports for 2008.

It's official. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be racing for Hendrick Motorsports in 2008. The equivalent of Alex Rodriguez signing with the New York Yankees, Dale Earnhardt Jr will join Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, two of the biggest names in NASCAR. Hendrick Motorsports has become the Yankees of NASCAR with the edition of Earnhardt Jr. Earnhardt Jr wants to win, and he is going to the best team that can help him accomplish that goal.

Just because Dale Earnhardt Jr. is driving for Hendrick Motorsports in 2008 doesn't mean that Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr fans will all of a sudden want to be around each other and start liking each other's opposing driver. That's not going to happen at all.

Click on the video to see a big wreck from Kyle Busch at Talladega Speedway.

Click on the video below to see another big wreck the day later involving Kyle Busch.

With the addition of Dale Earnhardt Jr, Kyle Busch is the odd man out at Hendrick Motorsports. Kyle will be a Free Agent at the end of this season, and there are rumors of Kyle Busch replacing Dale Earnhardt Jr in the number eight Chevrolet. So, you would have Kyle Busch driving for Budweiser, and his older brother Kurt would drive for Miller Lite. This is all in theory right now.

It's about business. That's why Dale Earnhardt is driving for Hendrick Motorsports in 2008 and Kyle Busch is not.

San Antonio Spurs: 2007 NBA Champions

Click on the video to see a recap of Game Four of the 2007 NBA Finals.

Congratulations to the San Antonio Spurs, who have officialy become a Basketball Dynasty, joining themselves with Michael Jordan's Bulls, Larry Bird's Celtics, and Shaquille O' Neal and Kobe Bryant's Lakers. Congratulations to Tony Parker, who gets his first NBA Finals MVP Trophy. This is also Tony Parker's third NBA Finals Ring. What a great year for Tony Parker. He gets an NBA Championship ring in June, and he will be getting a wedding ring later in the year. Congratulations to Tim Duncan, the cornerstone of the Spurs, there for all four titles. Congratulations to Michael Finley, coming over to the Spurs from the Dallas Mavericks, finally getting to hoist the NBA Championship Trophy after twelve seasons in the NBA. Congrats to Manu Ginobili, one of the best players in the league, hoisting the trophy again.

The San Antonio Spurs are NBA Champions for the fourth time. They defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 83-82 to become one of the great dynasties in NBA History. This is The Spurs fourth NBA Championship. The Spurs have been NBA Champions in 1999, 2003, 2005, and 2007. Watching the Spurs hoist up that trophy again was great. These guys are the New England Patriots of Basketball, doing things right until they are impossible to get wrong. To the Cavaliers and LeBron James: Don't worry. Cleveland will get their own NBA Championship soon, as LeBron James is only 22 years old.

The San Antonio Spurs have a 3-0 lead in this best of seven series and can get their four NBA Finals trophy in nine years on Thursday by sweeping the Cavaliers. There has never been an NBA Team coming back from a 3-0 defecit, and it's not going to happen this year either.

I hope the Spurs will win tonight, but something tells me the Cavaliers will win tonight to avoid the sweep.

Game Four is Tonight on ABC.

(NBA) Spurs win Game Three of the NBA Finals 75-72

Click on the video to see highlights from Game Three of the NBA Finals.

Cleveland was electric as Game Three of the NBA Finals got under way. It was back and fourth as both teams traded the lead, as Cleveland had a two point lead at the end of the first quarter. However, the Spurs came back strong, as Tony Parker put in a layup at the buzzer to give the Spurs a 40-38 lead at halftime. The third quarter continued to have both teams trading buckets and the lead, but the Spurs fought back to lead at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth, the Spurs had a two point lead increased to five points as Tony Parker knocked in a huge three pointer. Manu Ginobili banged in a freethrow to make it a three point lead with 5.5 seconds remaining. LeBron James tried a three pointer, but it did not fall. LeBron had some words for the officials, claiming that he was fouled in the act of shooting. If the officials had ruled that LeBron was fouled in the act of shooting, he would have had three freethrows, and a chance to tie the game. But the score stands at 75-72 Spurs. The Spurs have a 3-0 lead in this series and can sweep the Cavaliers on Thursday in Cleveland.

Click on the video to see a preview of Game Three of the NBA Finals.

The Series shifts locations, moving from San Antonio to Cleveland, and The Cavaliers will be glad they are home for a couple of games after they were beat down on the road by the Spurs Defense.

Spurs fans do not need to get out the the broomsticks yet. Remember that the Dallas Mavericks had a 2-0 lead last year in the NBA Finals before Dwayne Wade helped the Miami Heat win four in a row to win the NBA Finals.

Game Three will be the closest game yet, but San Antonio will still pull it out. Expect another big shot from "Mr. Big Shot." Robert Horry.

Game Three is tonight in Cleveland.

LeBron James had a better game this time, but he got the same result as game one. James scored 25 points, but the Cavs still lost 103-92. The Spurs had a 27 point lead enetering the start of the fourth quarter, but James and the Cavaliers were able to cut it to eight before Manu Ginobili hit a three to put the game away. The Spurs Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker were unstoppable. Parker had 30 points, Manu Ginobili had 25 points, and Tim Duncan had 23 points. LeBron James and the Cavaliers will rebound though, as game three is in Cleveland.

(NBA) LeBron takes the Cavs to the NBA Finals

LeBron James abseloutely took over game five of the Eastern Conference Finals. Click on the video to have it begin.

LeBron James is taking the Cleveland Caveliers to the NBA Finals as The cavaliers won Game Six of the Eastern Conference Finals, and won the right the right to face the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, two days after his amazing, Michael Jordan like Performance against the Detroit Pistons. King James scored 48 points, and put in 30 of the Cavaliers final 31 points, as the Cavaliers defeated the Detroit Pistons 109-107. The turning point for that game was when LeBron James hit an incredible fadeaway jumper from three point territory to tie the game at 107, and then hit an amazing reverse hand layup to give the Cavaliers the win and the game 109-107.
