(NFL) Matt Schaub: The $48 Million Man
Matt Schaub, formerly a backup of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, is now going to become a starter in the NFL. Schaub signed a 6 year $48 Million contract with the Houston Texans. Matt Schaub is the new starter meaning that David Carr is out of Houston.
I do not understand this deal at all. All Houston acquired was a slightly less arm, slightly less agile version of David Carr. This offseason goes back to the 2005 NFL Draft. The Texans did not select Vince Young or Reggie Bush and selected first round -bust Mario Williams. What was then General Manager Chalie Casserly's reason for selecting Mario Williams and not Reggie Bush? "We are in the same division as Peyton Manning. Let's not try to outgun him. Let's try to stop him." That statement has caused him to go back to doing television work.
The admission that they should have taken Reggie Bush came when the Texans acquired formerly good running back Ahman Green. The admission that they should have drafted a quarterback came when they signed Matt Schaub to this deal.
Back to the Matt Schaub offer, I do not care who you put behind center for Houston, David Carr or Matt Schaub or anyone else, they will spend many snaps being dropped on their head due to a horrible offensive line. David Carr was sacked 249 times during his tenure in Houston, an average of 50 sacks per season. Carr was sacked 76 times in his rookie season. I said it before, and I will say it again, There will never be enough asprin for David Carr to take to cure his days in Houston.
Add to that a teriible recieving corps (nothing behind Andre Johnson) and Houston was bad offensively last year.
Matt Schaub will enjoy the money until his first regular season game, when he gets dropped on his head five times.

(NBA)
Dirk Nowitski remembers last year's NBA Finals. The Maverics had a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals, and were on their way to the NBA Finals. Late in the game, in steps Dwayne Wade, he has a "Jordan Like" Finals, revives the dead Miami Heat, and Flash and Superman get to hoist the NBA Trophy together.
This year, the Mavs are playing with a fire in their belly, and the Mavs are the favorite to win it all.

(NCAA) March Madness is Here!
It is that time of year again, the time of year that College Basketball Fanatics will get out their body paint as they watch their favrote team in the storied quest for the National Title, the NCAA Tournament, known as "March Madness." This is the perfect time to see what could be athletes like Greg Oden (Ohio State) Acie Law IV (Texas Tech) and Kevin Durant (Texas) each try to dethrone the Florida Gators and become the new National Champions.
Stay tuned to your TV, College Basketball Fans! It's going to be one heck of a show!

(MLB) Mark Cuban: Buying The Cubs?
Mark Cuban, the fiery owner of the Dallas Mavericks, is denying reports that he wants to buy the Chicago Cubs from the Tribune Company for $650 Million dollars, more than 50% more than what they are actually worth. I hope Cuban does buy the Cubs. It's perfect. Cuban wants the Cubs. the Tribune Company wants to get rid of the Cubs.
(NFL) Adam "Pacman" Jones: I fought the law, and the law won.
Tennesee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones is in trouble with the law yet again. Jones has been in a lot off the field incidents with the law that really negate the fact that he is a good cornerback. If I was the Tennesee Titans and Head Coach Jeff Fisher, I would have kicked him off the team a long time ago. Not only that, but I wiuld not have drafted him to begin with. There were red flags about this kid before the draft. Yet, Tennesee drafted him anyway, probably thinking they could change him. Well, he's gotten himself in a heap of trouble, and nothing he says or does will get him out of it. I would not put him on the trading block because I do not think many teams would want him. I would release him. He should be released, end of story.
(NFL) David Carr: Out of Houston?
The Houston Texans could seriously be considering getting rid of David Carr if Jake Plummer decides to come to Houston. This wiuld be a stupid move on their part. They have not given David Carr a whole lot of tools to work with. They draft Andre Johnson in 2004. two years later, they sign Eric Moulds. Yeaterday, they released Eric Mould, putting Houston right back to where they were during the 2004-2006 season, 4- 12 and 2-14. Getting rid of David Carr is not going to solve anything. It will only confirm my belief that Texans management doesen't they can with they have now. They shouldn't feel bad. They are in the AFC South, the same division as the Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts. Blowing up the team is not going to help them. The Minnesota Vikings have been named as one of the teams interested in acquiring David Carr. David Carr would actually have a line (the Vikings have Pro Bowl lineman Steve Hutchinson) but mediocre recievers. I really hope they don't get rid of Carr and that the releasing of Moulds means Houston will go after another reciever either in the Free Agency market or in the Draft.
(NFL) Randy Moss: Heading to Foxboro?
Reports are coming out of Oakland that the Raiders are attempting to get rid of Wide Reciever Randy Moss, and that the Green Bay Packers and the New England Patriots are both interested. This has a bunch of scenarios, so, let's go through them one by one:
OAKLAND: What would the Raiders see as suitable compensation for Randy Moss? Would a team like Green Bay or New England be willing to concede a first or second pick for a guy who quits on plays, is 30 years old, and his favorite route is going straight down the field?
GREEN BAY: Surely, Cheeshead fans remember Randy's disgusted endzone celebration in the 2004 NFC Wild card Game against Green Bay. How would cheesehead fans react if he soon wore their colors? Would they be willing to forgive him? Only if he leads the packers to the playoffs. I think this may work for him. The Packers have not had a big play threat since Javon Walker left the Packers via a trade to Denver. Brett Favre loves to throw deep, and Randy Moss loves to run deep, but how would Moss be recieved when he goes back to the Metrodome? he would probably be recieved with many boos, because he would be going to the archrival of the Vikings.
NEW ENGLAND: Tom Brady did not have a real big play threat last year, and the reason they lost the AFC Championship game to the Colts (another than the defense surrendering an 18 point lead and Brady throwing the interception late in the fourth quarter to seal the deal) was Patriot Wide Recievers (ahem...Reche Caldwell...ahem..) kept dropping critical passes when the Patriots needed a first down to keep the lead, and dropped a catch in the endzone when there was Nobody covering him! The Patriots could make this work as well. Bill Bellichick is a no nonsense head coach (the reason the Patriots have three Super Bowls) and any distraction from Moss and I am sure that Bill would find a way to make sure that dosen't happen again. But again, would Foxboro want a guy who is 30 years old, quits on plays, and only loves to run straight down the field?
I personally think Randy Moss is staying put in Oakland, the Raiders are too focused on having their offensive game plan evolve around JaMarcus Russell to trade him away.

(NFL) Lovie Smith: Bears finnaly make a deal
The Chicago Bears have signed head coach Lovie Smith to a 4 year contract extension. About time. Seriously, how long was it going to be before the Bears said to Lovie "We appreciate what you did for the Bears by taking them to the Super Bowl." Good Job by the Bears management of finally getting the deal done, but the deal really should have come a whole lot sooner.
