The Chicago Cubs have had one of the most productive offseasons this season. First, after signing new manager Lou Pinnella, the Cubs started by re-signing relief pitcher Kerry Wood and backup catcher Henry BlancoThe Cubs also resigned their best player, third baseman Aramis Ramirez. The Cubs then filled a hole at second base by signing former Texas Ranger Mark DeRosa. The Cubs then got some bullpen help by trading away Minor League starting Pitcher David Aardsma to the Cubs Crosstown Rivals, the White Sox, for Reliever Neal Cotts. The Cubs then got a huge boost offensively by signing the biggest name in Free Agency to the biggest contract in the history of the Franchise. The Cubs then decided to shore up their banged up starting rotation by signing Starting Pitchers Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis in Free Agency. And the Cubs may not be finished yet. Reports are flying that Free Agent Outfielder Cliff Floyd (formerly of the New York Mets) is close to signing with the Cubs.
The Cubs may FINALLY get the message that their fans are sick of this team being without a Championship for 98 years, and me personally, as a Cubs fan, am glad to see it.
I will end this with one final note: Go Cubbies!!!
